Melodie Wilson

Passion. Leadership. Commitment. Vision.

These traits shaped Melodie Wilson’s inspiring fight against breast cancer and her involvement with the Milwaukee Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. We are saddened that Melodie lost her personal battle with breast cancer on November 9. We send our heartfelt sympathy to her family and other loved ones.

In 1999 Melodie, along with a handful of other passionate women, established the Komen Milwaukee Race for the Cure®. Since then, the Race has raised millions of dollars to save lives today while working to find cures for the future. In addition to her work with the Race for the Cure and founding After Breast Cancer Diagnosis (ABCD), Melodie was also instrumental in establishing the Milwaukee Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. With her significant leadership, the Komen Milwaukee Affiliate today has a board of directors, three staff members, and hundreds of volunteers who serve the eight-county region of Southeast Wisconsin.

The leadership of Susan G. Komen for the Cure in Dallas, as well as the Komen Milwaukee Board of Directors, staff, volunteers and survivors and others we serve, owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to Melodie for her tireless dedication and leadership. Melodie Wilson leaves a legacy that will not be forgotten as we carry on her fight against breast cancer.
