The 4th Annual Gutglass Erickson Bonville & Larson Charity Golf Outing raised $20,000 to benefit the Milwaukee Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. 100 participants teed it up on Friday, September 12th, 2008 at Brynwood Country Club to take a swing against breast cancer. The event host, Gutglass Erickson Bonville & Larson, S.C., along with corporate sponsors such as Habush Habush & Rottier, Lexus of Brookfield, Max & Cindy Rasansky to name just a few, are excited about the growth of the annual event and the charity donation to the Komen Milwaukee Affiliate. Special thanks to Dena Grossman and her team of awesome volunteers who helped coordinate this stellar event.
For the month of October 2008, the Milwaukee Fire Department wore and sold specially designed pink t-shirts in place of their standard navy blue uniform. The pink t-shirts featured the fire department's logo on the front, Milwaukee Fire Rescue on the back, and sold for $10 each. The Milwaukee Fire Department placed their first order for 500 shirts, anticipating the total donation to the Komen Milwaukee Affiliate to come to about $3,400. The shirts quickly became wildly popular within the community, and the total donation to the Milwaukee Affiliate came to a total of $27,256! Big thanks go out to the Milwaukee Fire Department!
The Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club and Brewers Charities donated a record $65,000 to the Komen Milwaukee Affiliate in 2008! Of the total donated, $5000 came from the Mother's Day Brunch and the 4-Pack For the Cure special ticket package, $40,000 from a fundraising event held by General Manager Doug Melvin and his wife Ellen in memory of her mother who lost her battle to breast cancer, and $20,000 from Milwaukee Brewers Outfielder Bill Hall, who made an additional financial contribution to Komen's national office.

The Wisconsin Athletic Club in West Allis hosted the third annual Racquet for the Cure tournament on October 4, 2008. To kick off the event, Ben Blint rode a stationary bike for 12 hours – dubbed “The Iron Butt for Cancer” – and raised over $3,000. The evening before the event there was a meet and greet doubles for men and women and a 50/50 raffle. On Saturday, 66 female players from Wisconsin and Illinois participated in a round robin racquetball tournament. Throughout the day, players and guest supported the cause by purchasing tickets for a chance to win numerous donated raffle items. There were also over 100 items donated for a silent auction. The total raised came to over $18,000, making the grand total for the three years over $34,000! The Fourth Annual Racquet for the Cure will take place on October 3, 2009.

On Friday, January 23, the Milwaukee Bucks hosted the 2009 Milwaukee Bucks Bowl for the Cure. There was a total of 500 bowlers who came together to raise over $25,000! Top fundraisers were Jennifer Haufschildt (of Milwaukee Harley Davidson) with $5610, Eric Buckhouse (also of MH-D) with $3210, and Jason Hildreth, who raised $585.
Milwaukee Harley-Davidson had 22 teams of 6 people, and raised over $10,000 for the Komen Milwaukee Affiliate. The Women’s Bowling Association and Greenfield Classic provided teams and volunteers. Lakeside School of Massage was so popular that they had a waiting list for massages. Also on site were the Bucks Wives, Energee!, Bango – the Bucks mascot, and Bucks employees. AMF Bowlero provided complimentary shoe rentals for all bowlers. FS Wisconsin, 103.7 KISS FM and 99.1 WMYX did a fabulous job of promoting the event.
A very special thanks goes out to Amanda Wilfer and Trisha Rasberry of the Milwaukee Bucks organization for doing an incredible job of putting together this wonderful event!

On February 21, 2009, Phoenix players donned pink jerseys for the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association “Pink Zone” game. The special initiative was “a global, unified effort for the WBCA’s nation of coaches to assist in fighting breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond.” Breast cancer survivors were honored at the game, and received a free game ticket and a commemorative Pink Zone t-shirt and wristband. Over $7,300 was designated to the Komen Milwaukee Affiliate and the team walked away with an important win against Loyola.
