Matching Gifts

Many companies offer employee matching gift programs. This means that when an employee makes a donation to a non-profit organization, the corporation will “match” that donation with an equal (or greater) amount to the same group. Donors can often double the impact of their donation by requesting a matching gift from their employer.  The companies for matching gifts are limitless.  Please ask your company if they would like to participate in this program.  New companies and organizations, no matter the size, are always welcome.

Step One: Verify the company has a matching gift program
Confirm that the company you are requesting a match from has a matching gift program by contacting the company directly.

Step Two: Request a Matching Gift
After the donor has made an online, check or cash donation, they need to initiate the matching gift process with their company.

Online Matching Gift Process: If a matching gift company has an online process, the donor must follow that process through the company’s website. It is very important that the donor designates the Komen Southeastern Wisconsin Race for the Cure as the recipient of the matching gift. Please do not choose Susan G. Komen for the Cure as the designated organization for Race matching gifts - the funds will not be routed to the Southeastern Wisconsin Race.

Step Three: Processing
Depending on the employer's processing time it can take up to three months for the Race to receive and process matching gifts before they are posted your Participant Center under My Progress - Donation History. The donation type will be listed as: offline unconfirmed. At this point, the amount of the matching gift will count toward your fundraising total.
