General - Registration - Pledge & Donation

·      Where is the Race located? The race begins and ends at Discovery World and Milwaukee Art Museum Campuses on Milwaukee's Lakefront. Go to the DOWNLOAD CENTER to download the 2011 route for the 5K Race for the Cure and Komen mile!

·      When does the Race start? Race registration begins at 7 a.m. and the 5K Run/Walk and Komen mile races starts at 9:15 a.m. 

·      I have another obligation - can I still participate in the event? Yes, you can sign up for Sleep for the Cure and you will still receive a Race t-shirt, get to participate in the Friends for the Cure prize program by fundraising. Click here to register.

·      Is there a map of the Race course? Yes, the race course can be downloaded off the Website by going to the DOWNLOAD CENTER.

·        Is there Race day parking for participants? Yes, there is free parking for everyone and a map of the available lots can be downloaded by going to the DOWNLOAD CENTER .  

·      Will there be somewhere to check my belongings during the Race? Yes, Gear Check will be located at the the Start Line at the corner of Lincoln Memorial and Michigan.

·      Where can my out-of-town guests attending the Race stay? Click here for a list of local hotels in downtown Milwaukee. Hotel reservations and stay is at your own risk. Komen Southeast Wisconsin for the Cure® is not affiliated with any hotels.

·      Do I have to run? No, you have the option of a 5K run, 5K walk, or the new Komen Mile (1.4 Miles).

·      Can I bring my dog? No, dogs are NOT permitted on the grounds due to health and safety regulations.

·      Can I bring a stroller? Yes. Please line up at the rear of the start line area.

·      Is Chip Timing available? No.

·      If I mail my registration form, how long does it take for me to view my registration online? It will take up 14 days for to process mail-ins.

·      Do I have to register an infant or toddler? No.

·      Can I bring a stroller? Yes.

·      How do I get my T-shirt? At packet pick-up at any of the pre-registration events at the Pettit National Ice Center in West Allis or on Race day. See  T-shirt Pickup Info for more details.

·      Can our team's name be printed on the Race t-shirt? No, But teams are welcome to use one of our official logos if printing up their own shirts.   

·      Can I get some more information on the SELF/GQ magazine offer? Sure - go to the Self/GQ Info page .

·      How do I enter a donation to my Team (rather than an individual) online? You can donate to either an individual or team participant by going to the Donate page.

·      Is my Registration Fee tax-deductible? No.

·      How can I print out the Pledge Form?  Go to the DOWNLOAD CENTER to download a printable copy of the donation form.

·      How do I receive my Friends for the Cure® brought to you by Gruber Law Offices, LLC prize? We encourage all participants to raise pledges towards the cause. While not mandatory, we encourage all participants to set a minimum $250 fund-raising goal. In return for this effort, $250+ fundraisers will be eligible to participate in our incentive program.  ·     What can I do with cash or check pledges?   Go to our  Turning in Pledges page for detailed instructions.   

·      Is a minimum donation amount required to participate in the Race? There is no minimum.

Race Day Schedule - September 25, 2011 

7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. Race Day Registration (Summerfest north gate)

7:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. Survivor Breakfast

7:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.   Team Tailgate Area Open

8:45 a.m. Survivor Pre-Race Ceremony (at start line)

9:00 a.m. - Announce Team Winners

9:15 a.m. 5K Komen Race for the Cure®.    Both the 5K and Komen Mile will start at the same time. Those participating in the Komen Mile (1.4 miles) will be asked to line up on the right side and to the rear of the start line on Lincoln Memorial.

I have another obligation - can I still participate in the event? 

We encourage those who will not be able to participate the day of the Race to get involved in other ways:

1.  Make a donation to Someone you know who is participating this year,  or   a General Donation ot the race -  Go to the Donate page to get started!

2.  Sleep in for the Cure® and still receive a Race t-shirt. The deadline to register for Sleep in for the Cure is 9pm September 7th , 2011. Register now!                                                                      To Top

 
Is there Race day parking for participants? 

There is free parking for everyone; Go to the DOWNLOAD CENTER to download parking information.  Parking is at your own risk. Komen Southeast Wisconsin Race for the Cure® is not affiliated with any parking lot/structure. PARKING MAP WILL BE AVAILABLE IN JULY.

Will there be somewhere to check my belongings during the Race? 

Free Gear Check is available for all Race participants. You can drop off and pick up your items near the starting line from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Click here to see starting line area

Do I have to run? 

The Race includes a 5K Komen Race for the Cure® Run /Walk (Not Timed) and Komen mile (1.4 miles).

Is Chip Timing available?

No. After evaluating the time, effort and expense of having a timing chip available to runners, we have decided we can no longer afford this expense. However,  the Race is still on…that is, the Race to find a cure for breast cancer.  We hope you will join with us this year to support the fight against breast cancer and participate in the 5K fun run.   We will still have a separate area for the runners to line up  at the start as well as a race clock at the beginning and end of the race to help you keep track of your time. There will be an official time clock at the finish for those who wish to note their personal elapsed time.  The top survivor finishers, determined by place finish, will receive awards as they cross the finish line.

Can I bring a stroller? 

Yes. However, for safety reasons, participants with strollers are asked to line up behind all other participants without strollers.

If I mail my registration form, how long does it take for me to view my registration online?  

It will take approximately 14 days to enter your information into our online registration database.

What's in a Packet?   Team Packets Contain: Captain Info, Team Roster, Race Shirts, Bibs, Pins, Flyers,  and if applicable - Survivor Shirts,bibs & parking passes.
Individual Packets Contain:  Race Shirt, Bib, Pins, and if applicable - Survivor Shirt & parking pass.

 

Where can I get an Entry Form?  

Paper forms can be found in the DOWNLOAD CENTER,  or by registering in Person at the Pettit National Ice Center Sept 16 - 18  &  23 -24.   You may also register in person on Race day. 

-OR - you can register Online , and no form is needed.

How do I get my T-shirt?

Did you Register as part of a TEAM?
1.  For Teams of 2 or more members - Team members must obtain T-shirts and bibs from their team captain if they have not paid an additional $5 to have their t-shirt mailed or have selected the Sleep In for the Cure® registration option.  Check out the In Person Registration & Tshirt Pickup  page for more info on Team packet pickup.


2.  Teams of 1 person will not receive a Team Packet.  Those individuals should pick up their own t-shirt and Race bib at the Pettit National Ice Center during one of the Tshirt Pickup times  

 

Did you register Individually?

 1. Did you request that your shirt be mailed to you? (This would have been done during registration)  Mail by Shirt registrations should arrive by Thursday September 22nd.  PLEASE let us know if you have not received your shirt by then.    Sleep in For the Cure registrations should be received by mid-October.

2. If you did not select one of the mailing options during your online registration:   Visit our Pre-Registration Events at the Pettit National Ice Center in West Allis:

3. AFTER, Saturday, September 24th: Pick your shirt up on Race day at the Registration Tent (7 – 9 a.m.)

T-shirt sizes are not guaranteed and supplies are limited. For the best selection, you may want to consider the Mail My T-Shirt or Sleep In For the Cure on-line options.      


Can our team's name be printed on the Race T-Shirt

No, Race t-shirts are printed with the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® logo, local and national Race sponsors..

If desired, Teams are welcome to create and produce their own t-shirts.  Participants can download the Race logo from the Download Center.  For more information, please visit the   Teams Page!

Is my Registration Fee tax-deductible?

Because you will receive a t-shirt and other items when you register, the registration fee is not tax-deductible. However, if you are making a donation through the Race (i.e. a pledge via a walker or a donation if you cannot attend the Race) then that is tax-deductible.

How do I receive my Friends for the Cure® prize?
We encourage all participants to raise pledges towards the cause. While not mandatory, we encourage all participants to set a minimum $250 fund-raising goal. In return for this effort, $250+ fundraisers will be eligible to participate in our incentive program. You can view all of the wonderful prizes by clicking here

Prize certificates offering a selection of rewards will be presented to individuals who raise pledges at specified donation levels. Challenge your Teammates or friends to see who can raise the most! Pledges raised offline can be mailed in, dropped off at pre-registration events, or turned in on Race day.  Reward certificates will be emailed approximately 4 to 6 weeks post event when the official fundraising for the event closes.
